How to record your electrocardiogram.

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a quick, easy way to assess the heart's function and you will not feel anything during the ECG because the procedure is painless. Risks associated with ECG are minimal and rare.

The results need to be interpreted by a Doctor.

*The band needs to be turned on and connected to the app before you press the button.

You can press the button (five times from your watch display) on the band so you can record an ECG directly on your band.

Keep your finger firmly pressed against the button and wait until the small red loading bar reaches the end and the app displays the message Pls to app.

Open the app and go directly in the ECG menu from the dashboard, as shown below, and your ECG data will be synced automatically:

How the ECG actually works

You can record your heartbeat and rhythm using the electrical heart sensor on X-Wrist devices and then provide the results to your doctor to check the recording.

The ECG function records and stores an electrocardiogram which represents the electrical pulses that make your heart beat. The ECG checks these pulses to get your heart rate and see if the upper and lower chambers of your heart are in rhythm. If they’re out of rhythm, that could signal atrial fibrillations.

How to take an ECG test

Almost all X-Wrist devices have ECG capability and you can easily see this in the app: it will show a "ECG reading" button on the dashboard or when you press the X button in the middle if your band has ECG capability.

The following steps are how to take and ECG inside the app:

Start by open the app and pressing the middle X button

Press "ECG Reading"

Press "Start ECG Test"

Press "Start"

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Press the silver button on the band and keep it pressed (you don't have to firmly press) for one minute and ten seconds or until the app tells you otherwise.

The app also takes your blood pressure and your heart rate during the test.

Rest your arms on a table or in your lap while you take a recording. Try to relax and not move too much.

Make sure that your X-Wrist device isn’t loose on your arm. The band should be snug, and the back of your bracelet needs to be touching your wrist.

Make sure that your wrist and your band are clean and dry.

Make sure that your band is on the wrist that you selected in the settings.

To check, open the x-wrist app, tap the Explore > Band Settings > Right or Left arm setting. Also make sure you make the correct assessments of your "skin color" and "blood pressure range".

Move away from any electronics that are plugged into an outlet to avoid electrical interference.

A small percentage of people may have certain physiological conditions preventing the creation of enough signal to produce a good recording — for example, the positioning of the heart in the chest can change the electrical signal levels, which could impact the ECG ability to obtain a measurement.

Liquid-free contact is required for the ECG to work properly. Use of the ECG may be impacted if the band and/or skin aren't entirely dry.

Make sure that your wrist and hands are thoroughly dry before attempting a reading. To ensure the best reading after swimming, showering, heavy perspiration, or washing your hands, clean and dry your X-Wrist.

It may take up to one hour for your X-Wrist band to completely dry.

Things you should know

The ECG cannot detect a heart attack.

If you ever experience chest pain, pressure, tightness, or what you think is a heart attack, call emergency services immediately.

The ECG cannot detect blood clots or a stroke.

The ECG cannot detect other heart-related conditions. These include high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, high cholesterol, or other forms of arrhythmia.

If you’re not feeling well or are feeling any symptoms, talk to your doctor or seek immediate medical attention.

Wait for at least one minute.

You can always stop the reading by taking your finger off the button or pressing "Stop" inside the app but it's not recommended.

After the ECG test is done, the app will automatically display a message: "ECG Test Complete"

Please wait for the "Sync band data" to complete because the app takes your ECG reading live directly from the band.

After the sync is done, press the "Go back" button.

You will see all your ECG readings here.

After you chose one of the registered ECGs, press the "Download" button so the app can generate the ECG reading

After you press "Download" , a message will be displayed up top "Started download…" that signifies the app started downloading and generating the ECG reading.

When the download is completed, a green message is displayed "ECG report was downloaded !".

Your ECG reading will then appear in the middle of the screen and you can:

  • click on it to view & download

  • share it on social media

  • delete it

All your ECGs will remain in the app until you delete your account or delete the history one by one.

Certain factors or conditions may interfere with or affect the results of the ECG. These include, but are not limited to:

  • The band is not positioned correctly on the arm and your finger is not firmly pressed on the button

  • Obesity

  • Pregnancy

  • Fluid buildup in the abdomen (ascites)

  • Anatomical considerations, such as the size of the chest and the location of the heart within the chest

  • Movement during the test

  • Exercise or smoking before the test

  • Certain medicines

  • Electrolyte imbalances, such as too much or too little potassium, magnesium, or calcium in the blood
